Back this Year! Honorary Surfdog Lifeguard Dr Meline Joaris

Back again for the Annual World Dog Surfing Championships is Honorary Surfdog Lifeguard Dr. Meline Joaris,

Dr. Joaris will be on standby on the beach to make sure that all of our surf dogs are in great shape after a bit surfing competition.

Says Meline: “I’m a Belgian veterinarian who went to vet school in South Africa to eventually end up on NorCal sunny shores. I learned to surf in Half Moon Bay 5 years ago and I’ve since gone surfing in Santa Cruz, SoCal, Australia, Mauritius and even Belgium! I’m a much better veterinarian than surfer but I’ve always had a passion for the ocean and used to swim competitively.

I’ll be keeping an eye out for our furry friends’ safety while they catch some epic waves in Pacifica. I rescue older dogs, generally from Muttville in SF but will be leaving my old, grumpy chihuahua, Phil, at home for the event – he’s not a fan of other dogs. I’ve recently joined Modern Animal, a veterinary start-up based out of LA and we’re opening our first clinic in San Francisco, in NoPa.

I’m very excited to be able to attend this event after a 2 year hiatus”

Say Hello to Doctor Meline!
