The BEST WAVES competition — a spin-off of the live event — spotlights the year’s best dog surfing videos in a judged head-to-head contest of viewers favorites. The program broadcasts first on August 1st with multiple repeats on various ESPN channels over the following several months.

If your dog can fetch, enter the Fetch in Water Competition, presented by Doody Calls at the World Dog Surfing Championships on August 1st at Linda Mar Beach.

How does it work? Advance registration required.

12:00pm Doody Calls Fetch in Water Competition (1,2,3)

Advance Registered Entrants meet at the Doody Calls booth at 12pm, check in, and are escorted to the beach where they will have 10 minutes to throw the item of their choice for the dog to fetch. Fetches are judged based on confidence of retrieval and return to owner, distance, and speed (number of fetches is a plus).

This summer marks 10 years of the World Dog Surfing Championships in Pacifica, California, and we couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of our fans, volunteers, sponsors, participants, and community.

Over the past decade, we’ve welcomed thousands of spectators, surf dogs from across the country, rescue organizations, families, media from around the world, and visitors who come to experience one of the most joyful and unique sporting events anywhere.

We have to admit—it hasn’t always been easy.

Each year, the costs of producing a safe, family-friendly, world-class event continue to rise. New operational requirements, permits, insurance, equipment, staffing, and event services have made organizing the Championships more challenging than ever.

As we prepare for our 10th Anniversary event on August 1st, several new expenses and requirements have recently surfaced, adding to the costs of bringing this beloved tradition to the beach once again.

Doody Calls Fetch in Water Competition!

If your dog can fetch, enter the Fetch in Water Competition, presented by Doody Calls at the World Dog Surfing Championships on August 1st at Linda Mar Beach.

How does it work? Advance registration required.

12:00pm Doody Calls Fetch in Water Competition (1,2,3)

Advance Registered Entrants meet at the Doody Calls booth at 12pm, check in, and are escorted to the beach where they will have 10 minutes to throw the item of their choice for the dog to fetch. Fetches are judged based on confidence of retrieval and return to owner, distance, and speed (number of fetches is a plus).
